Top Nosing This is the top tread which is used to cover the trimmer- this sits flush with the upper floor level photo of CV Stairs stair showing the top nosing
Total Going The total going of a flight of stairs is the horizontal distance between the face of the first nosing and the back of the last riser. The individual going of a step is measured from face of nosing to face of nosing diagram showing the toatl going measurement
Tread The top or horizontal surface of a step- this is the part of the stair on which you stand diagram showing a 'tread'
Trimmer The trimmer is the joist onto which the top of the staircase rests and is fixed diagram showing the trimmer joist
